| Quartz |
|
| Quartz is silicon dioxide. It is found in many places and in a variety of forms. Some of the forms shown here are Amethyst (Micro inclusions cause the purple color), Rutilated or Tourmalated (Long bands of Rutile or Tourmaline or both found in clear or smokey quratz), and Dendritic (Dark Tendril inclusions and often some yellow to gold coloring). The pictures are the best representation I can get for these stones. Most of the pictures show white spots which are light glare and some of them show a shadow band (especially the high domed ones) which is caused by the direction of the light. I have described any exceptions of actual inclusions on the stones for which it is relative. |
